Quad Biking

quad biking

There are mainly two types of quad bikes, or all terrain vehicles (ATV's) - racing and utility. Because of motorised sport and television those mud spraying quads are well known. But in reality more that 75% of all quads sold in South Africa are utility quads. These are the workhorses that we welcome (if you want to bring your own quad) and use to make nature more accessible.

Our mission is conservation through utilization and we use quads to explore nature. On a quad you can feel and smell much more than from inside a vehicle.

Tread Lightly

There is no need for speed, because you are there already! We run the tyres at low pressure to give a bigger footprint and better grip to eliminate wheel spin. With the narrow wheelbase (when compared to a 4x4) we do not have to disturb much of nature when building a trail - you can go around a rock in stead of moving it etc.

With the soft tyres the pressure on the ground is also very low. With a 100Kg rider it is approximately 0.23Kg/cm² - compared to 0.6Kg/cm² for an average man walking and 1.3 Kg/cm² for a family car.

We believe that it is more about nature than about the ride - therefore we often get off the quads and walk to viewpoints and scenic spots. We are also very strict to keep all quads on the trail

Family Fun

family fun

We offer an activity that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Most high school children can handle our quads and the quads are big enough for a younger child to ride with a parent or with our guide. We use the quads to give everyone in the family an experience of Nature. We stop at viewpoints to see the big old mountain that has been there for ages. And we stop at the small flower that will only last for a week or two. You will also get some insight in apple and pear production and we might find the two free roaming tame sheep - they love to be touched.

Trails

Apart from the training area we have a variety of trails ranging from easy to very technical. If the need for speed really overtakes you, we have a rally track where you can go full throttle - but on the trails the focus is on nature and if you go fast you will miss out on much of the beauty. Riders with their own quads can also tackle our 4x4 trail.

Training and Rentals

quad biking

We have a training area were you will learn the skills required on the trail. This area is also used for a competition area during our annual Quad Bike Adventure Weekend.

Our guided trails start with very easy sections and as confidence grows we tackle the more technical parts. We do not "force feed" all the training in one session, but stop along the trail to teach riders in practical situations.

Rentals

You can rent a quad from us to go on our guided trails. We can accommodate groups from 2 to 5 persons. We have a variety of trails ranging from 1 to 3½ hours.

The trails vary from easy to technical. At obstacles you always have the option to walk past and let our guide ride your quad through the obstacle.
